The Gillespie Museum – Aquatic Gems

The Gillespie Museum presents

Aquatic Gems

Now – May 5, 2017

Aquatic Gems is a compendium of aesthetic and scientific investigations of water. Central to the exhibit are spectacular aquatic sites within a 30-mile radius of DeLand, and the Stetson campus—videos and images captured by Robert Sitler (Professor, World Languages and Cultures, Stetson). Drawing from her research on spring ecology, Kirsten Work (Professor, Biology, Stetson) has worked with the museum staff to create displays and activities about freshwater snails, a way to understand our water resources. The exhibit is sited in the museum’s Florida Gallery, with fossils, rocks and minerals demonstrating the hydrogeology of our region.
